The maid of honor is second in command after the bride and groom (well, I guess we can count on the best man here too). She handles a substantial number of tasks from the day of the engagement till the wedding ends so she has a lot on her plate.
Having the privilege to host hundreds of weddings here at Allan House, we’ve seen some of the best (and some of the worst) maid of honors walk down the aisle. Here’s how you can be the best maid of honor in the history of weddings.
Help with the timeline
The bride and the bridal party, all must get ready in time. Step up and put yourself in charge (or help the planner with this) and make sure all hair and makeup is being done on time and everyone stays on schedule.
Carry an emergency kit
Mishaps and accidents take place all the time. In case there are any unfortunate events, you need to be prepared for the worst. Broken zippers, ripped trains, and broken buttons are a usual occurrence, so be ready if needed. Before the bride walks down that aisle, make sure everything is how she wants it.
Make sure the bride is well nourished and well hydrated throughout
Wedding jitters are natural and many brides tend to lose their appetite due to wither anxiety or excitement. It is your duty to make sure she takes in small portions and stays hydrated. Refresh her drink every now (we’re talking water here), and help her get some nutrients in so she can stay fresh and nourished all day.
Hand out the bouquets and hold the bride’s bouquet at the altar
Stay connected with the florist and synchronize the delivery time in accordance with that of the ceremony. Once arrived, hand out each one of them and when the bride is standing at the altar; be prepared to hold her bouquet as well.
Take care of the bride’s dress after the reception (and any other time throughout the night)
Often in a rush, the gorgeous wedding dress tends to end up in a crumpled pile after the reception. Take charge, pack it and take it for her if she’s rushing off to her honeymoon.
Become the best maid of honor ever by following these simple guidelines and add your share of love to your best friend’s wedding that’ll be remembered for her lifetime. Most importantly have fun and help her enjoy every minute.
